I borrowed the Biggest Loser book from Lerraine. It has been invaluable to me. I've been on the Biggest Loser diet for two weeks and have lost another 3lbs! So, I'm officially at 13 pounds total. Only eight more before Momma gets a new pair of shoes! Yes..I just referred to myself as "momma."
Workouts are going great! Some friends and family have joined the gym in the past month, so now almost every time I workout I have a buddy. That has made a tremendous difference in my life. Working out is something I look forward to now, and I'm having no problem making it four or five times a week. I'm burning more calories, because the time passes so much faster when you have someone to talk to, and I'm getting results! Not only that, but Mac (my trainer) has taken a new interest in me.
As many of you know I recently got my hair cut and colored. It's still long, but now I have bangs, and it's more of a dark reddish brown thanks to Amy! I'll post pictures soon. Well, the day after I got my hair done, I went to the gym for my weekly session with Mac. I had my hair pulled up into a high pony as usual, only now my bangs were hanging down in my face instead of being slicked back. I put a little makeup on that morning, as I had several errands to run after my session and didn't want to subject the entire world to the shockingly pale skin that makes up my face. I didn't have my full face on or anything, just a little base, lip gloss and mascara. Well...you would have thought I was a beauty queen! When I walked in Mac immeaditaly noticed not only my makeup, but my cut and color. I was a little impressed, as he's a man, and even if they do notice stuff like that, they aren't likely to when your hair is in a pony.
I felt pretty and a little self concious after his comments. Worried that he might think I was dressing up for him..I told him of all I had to do that day, and how I just simply didn't have time for a shower and ready session after our workout. We went on with the routine, and as I'm sitting there pumping iron, he is just starring at me. It was very odd, as he is usually on his cell phone, watching tv, or poking fun at the other trainers. Within the course of our 30 min. session, which that day, he extended to 45 for no extra charge...Mac complimented me SIX times. He could hardly go five minutes without saying "Ya know, you're really pretty." Or, "I really see a lot of potential in you." Or, my personal favorite, "I can tell you're going to be a lot of trouble when you get this weight off."
I couldn't believe what a difference a little makeup and a hair cut made! Mac finally believes in me! He actually said that. He said, "I really believe you're going to do this Leah." I said, "thanks," but I thought "thanks for FINALLY getting on board." As shallow as it may be, I am so happy that I discovered that a little makeup makes all the difference. Thanks to me taking an extra two minutes before I go to the gym to freshen up my face, Mac works me harder, longer, gives me tips he should have given me months ago, and even comes by to check on me when I'm doing cardio and he's with other clients!
I really feel like God is building a team of people around me to help me do this for real! You readers, are a vital part of that team. Please leave me comments to let me know you are listening. Lori, I changed a setting on my blog, so you SHOULD be able to leave comments now. Let me know if you can't. Love to you all!
