Back from the dead

I know I have been an unfaithful blogger. More for lack of inspiration, utter dissapointment and discouragment than a bout of laziness. It's the beginning of April..and I've been in this "I'm going to change my life" thing for for 8 months. So the question is...have I?

Well I am a regular gym goer, I am eating healthier than I ever have, but I haven't lost much weight. It's puzzling.. with me eating Kashi cereal and blueberries for breakfast, Lean Cuisine for lunch and a sensible dinner. I just don't get it! I'm doing more than I ever have. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not 100% faithful 100% of the time, but my efforts should have yielded more results than a measly 10 pounds by now!! I'm so frustrated I want to cry!

That's where I was 21 days ago. Then I talked to my trainer, told her (Breck) (I got a new one) that I needed to take a break from our training to figure out what I was doing wrong. She was in complete support, saying that it's 90% what you eat and only 10% what you do. So I set out to find out what works for me. I looked into nutrionists, dietitions, Doctors, and about 3 diets I amazingly had NOT tried yet.  I couldn't find anything that felt right. Through this time of searching I kept seeing and hearing the message of whole foods, organic eating and what all the processed stuff does to our hormones, our bodies and our health. I was amazed! I had a few friends, Angela and Lori who were getting into it too. So we decided to start our own group. We appropriately named it "food group!"

Food Group gets together about once every 2 to 3 weeks to discuss our trials and our triumphs. We're accountable to each other, and we share things we've learned and foods we've found. It's so much fun! It has been an adventure discovering all the foods we never thought to eat or prepare certain ways, and it makes it fun rather than a punishment. I love food, and that will never change. I just need to love the right foods.

The last three weeks have been very hectic for me. Rought with temptation and anything but the ideal situation for changing your life, (again) but I've proudly lost 8 pounds in 21 days! I haven't been to the gym once! I plan on incorporating that back in starting this week. My intention was never to leave it out, but I needed to step back and take a look at things, and I feel that I've gained the perspective that will allow me to live a healthy life.

I'm cooking more, but I had forgotten how much I love to cook! I enjoy my food more. Everything I make tastes way better than the frozen food I was eating day and night. I can't wait to share reciepes and pictures of things I'm making with you. I'll give you more details about what I'm actually eating later. For now, I just wanted to give you a quick update.  Check out the other Food Groupers blogs! I added them to my links.
